Bike Bloc action in Copenhagen - Filastine's Sound Swarm System
On december 16th 2009 in Copenhagen the Bike Bloc will be part of the Sound Swarm, a battery of bicycle-mounted megaphones joined by more than hundred of other bikes screaming for climate global change.

Broadcast system

Bikes, mp3 readers and megaphones... The Sound Swarm crew have been editing and spacializing soundtracks since the 6th of december to broadcast them through the Sound Swarm system:

Technical parameters
  • The loudspeakers do not reproduce frequencies below 500hz. Therefore a highpass EQ filter shall be used. Megaphones also respond better to longer sounds than short transients. Translation: no bass, no drums.
  • 5 dual-mono wave files with equal start times are then compressed to feed the 5 synchronized .mp3 playlist-readers.
